  Master Richard Arteca

Master Rich Arteca is a Certified Sah Dan Master in the World Tang Soo Do Association. He unofficially started his martial arts training in the early 70s being taught what he likes to call functional techniques in the United States Navy. This training involved specialized weapons training and self defense techniques during the Vietnam War era. It was not until 1983 that Master Arteca began official training in the martial arts as part of the World Tang Soo Do Association and has been with this organization ever since. His background aside from the martial arts is as follows: Bachelors of Science in 1972 at Utah State University, the United States Navy from 1968 to 1974, Masters of Science in 1976 and Doctor of Philosophy in 1979 at Washington State University. After receiving his Ph.D, Master Arteca came to The Pennsylvania State University in 1979, was promoted to full professor in 1989 and has been on the faculty until the present time.
